Children’s Day Out

At CDO, our goal is to provide a safe, loving, and enjoyable environment that is faith-based with an emphasis on quality education to meet the needs of children and that nurtures a love of learning.  At New Hope’s CDO, we:

  • Teach thematically and focus on a letter of the week through literacy, math, and art.

  • Participate in Chapel time that includes fun Christian-based preschool music, storytime, a bible lesson, and prayer.

  • Teach a bible verse each month that connects to the theme or season.

  • Provide free time in our gym or outside on our playground.

  • Foster a positive learning and social environment for all children.

  • Create safe and healthy surroundings that encourage play, exploration and learning.

  • Promote physical development through fine and gross motor skill activities.

  • Help children develop communication skills, follow directions, care about one another, and share with one another.

  • Develop each child's self-esteem and love of learning.

  • Teach Christian principles by example.

In preparing students for elementary school, we use a phonics curriculum to teach letter names and sounds. Reading is very important at this age and read-alouds are done multiple times each day. The students participate in small group learning time as well as whole group learning time. Math time introduces numbers, counting, patterning, and more. Students learn one letter per week and also have a theme for the week with corresponding activities.  Pre-K class sizes are small. Students have a daily schedule with time for structured and free play, chapel time, lunch, and rest time. Socializing is also important at this age, so there is plenty of time for that daily, too!  Pre-K is taught by Ms. Lori. She is a certified teacher with years of experience

We have a handbook with guidelines we follow to ensure CDO runs effectively.  CDO staff participate in monthly staff meetings and are encouraged to participate in regular trainings. Each class has two teachers at all times. Background checks are done on all CDO teachers and subs.
