About the
United Methodist Church
New Hope United Methodist Church is part of the global denomination called the United Methodist Church.
The Methodist movement was founded by brothers Charles and John Wesley during the 18th century and eventually became the United Methodist Church in 1968.
United Methodists emphasize grace and grace in several forms. Prevenient grace means that grace “comes before” one knows or loves God. Justifying grace means we are “made right” with God. Sanctifying grace means that God actively makes us holy in heart and life.
The United Methodist Church holds tradition, scripture, reason, and experience together and uses that framework to help discern God’s call in our lives.
